The Council’s role is not just limited to being a marketing or promotional arm for the timber industry. MTC focusses on increasing the timber sector’s share in the Malaysian economic pie and strengthening the sector’s foothold globally as well.

MTC’s business development and growth strategies for the timber industry revolve primarily around four key thrusts. They are market intelligence; market development; stakeholder engagement; and industry development and empowerment.

To achieve its key goals, MTC conducts marketing and business matching missions, raw material and technology acquisition missions and participation in trade fairs, among others.
