This is only possible if there is protection from UV rays. So far, this has been done using azures or saturators. Some wood sorts (e.g. douglas and larch) cannot be protected durably with azures, whilst a wood sort such as cedar cannot be protected at all. Saturators have the disadvantage that they need to be renewed regularly. Blanchon has solved these problems with the introduction of a new finish system. Blanchon presents a protective system to combat the effects of sunlight on the wood. An important extra benefit of this system is that it preserves the original colour of the wood. Whilst protection from UV light is traditionally associated with the addition of dyes, this system is colourless. These systems form a new family of finishes. They can be deployed on all wood sorts, give the wood a long lifespan, and are easy to maintain.
